the process
Weaving is not for the faint of heart or the limited of patience. Each step is crucial to the success of the finished piece, and cannot be rushed.

1
Before beginning a piece, I first decide which materials I’ll be using: wool, cotton, linen, or another fiber. Next, I plan out the pattern and decide what I’ll be creating, whether that’s a finished piece (scarf, blanket, tea towel), or a length of cloth to create other things (pouches, tops, cases)?

Once the piece is planned, I measure out my materials, thread them onto the loom, and begin weaving! A single piece of cloth can take anywhere from 3-7 days to plan & weave from start to finish, depending on how intricate the pattern is and how long the yardage is.

Last, I cut the piece off the loom and tie it off. I then wash and dry it so that the fibers will expand. If it’s a finished product as-is, I weave in any loose ends with a needle and set it aside for selling. If it’s to be made into a bag or a shirt, I plan out my pattern and cut it into sewable pieces.
